Excellent Neuromuscular Therapy article: What is Neuromuscular Therapy
When can I book my appointment?
My Practice hours vary but appointments are generally available Monday to Friday, 8.00am until 5.30 pm, depending on the venue.
I work from two clinics:
Southwell Physiotherapy Clinic, 3 The Ropewalk, Southwell, Notts NG25OAL on Mondays 8.00am - 1.00pm and Wednesdays 8.00am – 11.00am and 2.30pm - 5.30pm.
54 Wood St, Newark, NG241PN on Mondays 2.00pm-5.00pm, Tuesdays 8.00am – 5.00pm, Thursdays 8.00am - 6.15pm and Fridays 11.45am – 4.00 pm.
How do I make an appointment?
Appointments may be made by calling/texting me on my mobile 07939056870 between 7.00am and 9.00pm, or sending me an email requesting a call back at a convenient time. I may well be with a client, so please do leave a message. Outside of these times, text me and I’ll get back to you when I can.
What will happen at my first appointment?
You’ll be asked to fill out a health and medical history form, including emergency contact details and a consent declaration. Please wear or bring something comfortable and non-binding for your initial appointment and assessment as I will need to have access to your problem areas, so leggings or shorts and a t-shirt, are ideal. For treatment, ladies will be required to undress down to bra (preferably not a sports bra) and pants. Men please wear briefs, shorts or running/cycling shorts.
How will I be covered?
You will be kept warm and covered with towels. In the winter, I use hot wheat packs and the treatment couch can be warmed with an electric pad. There will be a pillow, face cradle pad and legs bolster for your physical comfort.
What products do you use?
I use Tiana Organic Coconut Oil, as well as well as a selection of non-irritant oils and aromatic blended oils, and a variety of essential oils to make individual therapeutic blends. I use Songbird Naturals fascial release wax for deep tissue massage and neuromuscular treatments.
Can my medical insurance cover the cost of my treatment?
Occasionally my clients can get reimbursed for the treatment they receive from me through their health insurance provider. However I am NOT a physiotherapist. You will need to enquire with your insurer directly as I don’t deal with private medical insurance companies. If you require a receipt for each treatment you will need to let me know prior to your treatment, so that I can prepare a receipt recording dates of service and fees charged.
How do I pay?
Payment is due at the time of your appointment and may be made by cheque, cash, or Paypal.
What might the treatment consist of?
My treatments are tailored to you so may be mixture of hands-on techniques, soft tissue mobilisation and re-learning more effective breathing habits. A treatment might also include guidance on yoga postures and stretches, or the use of balls, domes and rollers - all designed to support you in managing your own treatment / recovery.
How much will it cost?
Please see my Price List for treatment tariff and class prices.
What is deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage involves the application of manual techniques such as pressure, compression, bending, longitudinal gliding, cross-fibre work, deep transverse frictions, specific soft tissue mobilisation, kneading, stretching and rolling the tissue and myofascial release. The aim of deep tissue massage is to stretch and release the soft tissue of the body and is an essential part of curing most musculoskeletal problems.
What is soft tissue?
The soft tissue includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and fascia (a loose-to-dense fibroelastic connective tissue that is found throughout the body from the head, face, neck and trunk to the arms and legs).
How long does an appointment last?
An initial assessment and treatment usually lasts up to 75 minutes and follow-up sessions can be between 30 minutes and an hour, depending upon the treatment required.
What is your cancellation policy?
It's quite simple, you need to give me a full 24 hours’ notice if you want to avoid paying for a session you can't make.
